Life Story of Facebook Boss Mark Zuckerberg.

Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg was born in 1984. He is an american entrepreneur and computer programmer. He built many different softwares from his early age but Facebook made him famous.

Early interest in computers

Mark started programming at the age of 12 years old. he used Atari BASIC to create a messenger called “ZuckNet”. The goal of his software was to connect the computers altogether  and allowed to transfer messages between his house and dad’s dental office.

In High School

He programmed a media player called Synapse for MP3-playlists. This software was able to studied the preferences of a user and, accordingly, was able to generate playlists ‘guessing’, which tracks a user wanted to listen to. Microsoft proposed to buy the software for one million dollars. However, Mark rejected the offer as he was not interested to sell the software he created.

Preparatory school and University

Mark needed challenges , so he entered to a preparatory school to sharp his computer science skills. Then, he got accepted to study at Harward University. In 2003, while studying at Harward, he started a program called FaceMatch, the goal of this software was to be able to compare 2 female students and vote “which one was hotter”. In 2004, Mark launched “thefacebook” and soon after, three Harvard seniors, Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra, accused Mark of stealing their idea called harwardconnection.com and soon after forced Mark to give them a share of the company when it went public. Mark decided to drop out of Harward in order to finish his project and build the well known company that will be later called Facebook.

Facebook story

After Harward, Mark and his team decided to move to California, they leased a small house that was used as an office. Peter Thiel the founder of Paypal invested $500,000 in the company. Then, Accel Partners invested in Facebook $12.7 million and Greylock Partners later invested $27.5 million.Later this year.

Mark initially built the product targeting only students, but soon realized the potential  success that it could create if Facebook was accessible to anyone. Soon after, the number of users increased significantly and that is how the company became popular. Facebook later created a set of tools such as “the wall” that soon became very popular and make the company growth significantly

Facebook revenue stream his mainly based on advertisement directed to their users. And the company still growth over the years, being one of the most successful company in the world.
